In WOODEN BOYS, photographs printed on wood engage in a dialogue with the grain, knots, and reliefs of the material, integrating the image into a preexisting topography. The surface ceases to be neutral: the wood interferes with, displaces, and reinterprets the represented body, introducing a reading in which material and image mutually condition one another.
